Venerable Master Hsing Yun established Fo Guang Shan temple in Manchester, the second Fo Guang Shan temple set up in the UK after London. This met the needs of the growing desire for a space in the North of England, and provided a place to learn and practice teachings of Buddha.
Since 1993, Manchester Fo Guang Shan has been continuously cultivating positive synergy to the community and society in Manchester. The committee has been actively involved in various activities: Faith events, cultural exhibitions and performances, meditation, Chinese school education, children Dharma class and 1st Buddhist Scout group in United Kingdom.
